The
shrapnel of Civil War did not stop the young couple, Fathi and Mona
Chatila, from treading uncharted territory. Noticing that the water
industry was surging with potential, and that it was bereft of a single
magazine dedicated to tracking this trade and reporting about it, the Chatilas
started nurturing a brain child. Amidst the worst episodes of Lebanese civil
strife in 1977, and from the heart of Beirut City, Arab
Water World (AWW) magazine set sail for the Middle East and North
Africa region on its maiden voyage.
The bold gamble of a hydro-geologist, Mr.
Fathi Chatila, and his wife the late Mrs. Mona was greeted with tremendous
success. The magazine quenched the thirst of experts and anybody immediately
interested in water purification, wastewater, irrigation, desalination, and/or
energy. Today, three decades later, AWW is published on
a monthly basis and still reaches the desktops of water-related specialists and
professionals. The Chatila Family operates in the same degree of dedication and
motivation that prompted them when they first launched the magazine. AWW
remains the first and only magazine to break the waves of silence in the water
industry by introducing new companies in that lucrative business and keeping
readers up-to-date.
