The late Mona Chatila was born on Monday, January 24th, 1944. Mona graduated from Al-Istiklal High School in 1962. Later, she joined Ras Beirut Music Center, where she obtained a certificate in piano playing under the supervision of Dr. Mike Herro, and became a piano instructor. In 1967, Mona got married to Fathi Chatila and they had three children:
- Rajaa was born in 1968. She obtained her MD from AUB in 1994 and received her board from Yale University in CN-USA in Gastroenterology in 1998.
- Hiba was born in 1973. She graduated from the American University of Beirut (AUB) in 1992 with BS in Business Administration.
- Mohamad Rabih was born in 1976. He graduated from the American University of Beirut (AUB) in 2002 as an Architect.
Together with her husband, Mona founded the Chatila Publishing House (CPH) and started publishing the Arab Water World (AWW) magazine in 1977. The rest, as they say, is history(you can browse various sections of this website to know more details).
Mrs. Mona Chatila passed away on Thursday, December 6th, 2006 after a long struggle with severe lung disease; may God have mercy on her soul and may she be happy and smiling at us and blessing us from heaven where we pray and believe she is.
